Dan D’Agostino Progression Neo Preamplifier
The Progression Neo Preamplifier represents the most advanced analogue control centre in the Progression line to date, designed to bridge the gap between pure high end two channel systems and modern living room entertainment setups. A 66% increase in operating rail voltage compared with the previous generation gives the Neo Preamplifier vastly expanded dynamic headroom, contributing to an ultra low noise floor and a sense of unrestricted musical scale.
At its core, the Neo Preamplifier maintains a fully discrete, fully complementary and balanced analogue signal path from input to output, with no global negative feedback and extremely low open loop distortion, in line with the philosophy established in earlier Progression preamplifier designs. The optional Digital Streaming Module adds optical, RJ45 and Wi Fi network connectivity, supporting up to 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet and high resolution PCM and DSD playback via an advanced differential DAC architecture, so the preamplifier can serve as the central hub for both analogue and digital sources.
System integration has been elevated with the inclusion of HDMI eARC and CEC – a first for a Dan D’Agostino preamplifier – acknowledging the increasing overlap between high end stereo systems and television based entertainment. A bi directional remote control with integrated LCD and a dedicated iOS app for Bluetooth control provide flexible, long range operation, extending far beyond traditional infrared remotes and enabling convenient adjustment from anywhere in the listening space.
Two independent balanced stereo outputs can be used individually or simultaneously, facilitating bi amping or the integration of subwoofer based systems without compromising signal integrity. The Neo Preamplifier’s front panel continues the Progression design language with twin analog meters inspired by fine Swiss watch dials; during playback they function as signal level meters, and when you adjust volume or balance, the needles repurpose to display the new settings before returning to level indication. Combined with the underlying increases in rail voltage, noise performance and connectivity, the Progression Neo Preamplifier stands as a true next generation control centre for ambitious music systems.
