Stromtank S-4000 ProPower MK-II Power Generator
Technically, the S4000-ProPower occupies a special position as it marks the transition to the ultra-high-end range, making it an excellent choice for many recording studios. This classic StromTank model, now in its latest version, features 16 LFP batteries (48 Vdc system) and two inverters. These inverters are responsible for managing the power draw. It’s crucial to consider the maximum current of the DC/AC converter and the heat generated during conversion.
In the S4000-ProPower, two high-performance converters work in parallel to provide the necessary power. This setup ensures that each converter only processes half the current, distributing heat over a larger area. Load peaks are regulated at twice the speed. To ensure optimal heat dissipation, the housing dimensions have been significantly enlarged compared to the S1000-SourcePower and S2500-Quantum models. The outer shell is made of black anodized aluminum, combined with internal heat distributors made of copper.
As the second-largest StromTank, the S4000-ProPower can supply clean power to an entire large system. An additional benefit is the ideal solution for separating power supply needs: the S4000-ProPower can supply all analog devices in your stereo system, while an S1000-SourcePower combined with the SEQ-5 power strip or an S2500-Quantum exclusively handles digital sources. The main feature of each STROMTANK is a powerful generator combined with a high capacity battery and a unique feature. Each Stromtank model has 2 different working modes:
- ON-grid (blue illumination at front meter)
STROMTANK supplies the audio system from the electrical grid according to the principle of a regenerator, but with one important difference: an insufficient power supply will be compensated by a block of rechargeable batteries, which thanks to an permanent controlling of the system is able to supply as much energy as required (boost-function)
- OFF-grid (green illumination at front meter)
All audio components connected to STROMTANK are supplied solely by the batteries with constant current. The average autonomous operating time is 4-8 hours, depending on the choice of STROMTANK model and the energy consumption of the connected components. When the battery state-of-charge reaches a critical minimum, the STROMTANK will automatically recharge itself from the mains. What exactly is it? This development was possible by using the new and innovative battery technology: lithium iron phosphate (LFP). STROMTANK uses a special type of LFP battery that shines with maximum power delivery, maximum lifetime, voltage stability and intrinsic safety. Another essential point is the lifetime of STROMTANK’s LFP batteries. This is ensured by our battery management system specially developed for these needs. Decisive for the long life cycle of a battery is the professional treatment of each individual cell with an intelligent, active battery management system. His priority tasks are:
- Active balancing up to 10A bi-directional (charching & discharging)
- Inspection of temperature, voltage, current load and state-of-charge of each single cell
